WHEN: Thursday , September 27th at noon

CHARACTERISTICS:

A Westside Village neighbor who lives on the 3200 block of Tilden Ave has reported an incident that appears to have been typical of the "knock-knock" burglary pattern. The owner's mother, who speaks only Mandarin Chinese, was eating lunch in the kitchen at about noon yesterday (9/27) when she saw what she described as a male Hispanic jump over the closed side gate and head toward the back of the house. She quickly went to the backyard and closed the patio doors. There was no further attempt by the suspect to enter the house.

Items Stolen from Porch 3100 block of Midvale

A resident on the 3100 block of Midvale had items stolen from their porch the week of September 17th.

Please report any incident, even if it seems insignificant as the LAPD use this information to track patterns in our neighborhoods. This helps them determine where to allocate their resources.

Attempted Burglary 3500 Veteran

TYPE: Attempted Burglary WHERE: 3500 Veteran WHEN: Tuesday, September 25th between 2:30 and 2:45 SUSPECTS: - CHARACTERISTICS: Suspect jumped locked gate and tried to gain entry through rear door. Failing that, the suspect pried open the other side gate and broke the kitchen window to open latches. This set off the home alarm which must have scared him off. In this case the suspect had flipped off all of the circuits in the outside electric circuit breaker box thinking it would disable the alarm. A can of pepper spray was found outside the kitchen window (which is used when dogs are encountered). Police have taken fingerprints from the can. Burglary 3200 Greenfield

TYPE: Burglary WHERE: 3200 Greenfield WHEN: Tuesday, September 25th around 2:30 SUSPECTS: - CHARACTERISTICS: Family dog was sprayed with pepper spray to gain entry to home. The owner was home at the time and we understand the burglar ran off. We are waiting on more information. Driving Alert for September 29th-30th...a good time to stay close to home.

Don't forget, the 405 through Sepulveda pass will close down Friday night (Sept 28th) starting around 10:00 pm and not reopen until around 5:00 am Monday morning (Oct 1st).

As if that wasn't enough, the LA Triathlon will be that same weekend. On Sunday (Sept 30th) Venice Blvd will be closed from 7:00-11:00 am and vehicles will not be able to cross during that time.

Sounds like a good weekend to stay home!

UPDATE Pitbul found safe

A pitbul named Messy , belongs to resident 3200 Malcolm , escaped the gate and he is out running lose In the neighborhood. He is microchipped but does not have a color He is friendly with people but not with dogs. If you find him call Luz 303-884-6972 or call animal control services at 888-452-7381 ex 144

This kitten was found Friday morning on Queensland near Malcolm. Please call Christine at 310 714-5640 if you know who this kitten belongs to.

Found cat

An orange ginger cat was found near the corner of Kelton and Queensland in Westside Village. He did not have a collar or a microchip.  He is young; perhaps a year old. We took him to the West LA Shelter at 11361 West Pico Blvd (888) 452 7381 Ext 1-4-4. His registration number at the shelter is A1340205.
