WHEN: Wednesday, December 3rd between 1 and 3 pm
SUSPECTS: -
CHARACTERISTICS: The thieves climbed up on an outdoor table and into the house through a bathroom window (unlocked.)  No home alarm.  They detached and stole a bedroom safe full of jewelry using a pick axe.  In their process they used a long extension cord cable and left that and the pick axe behind.

Attempted Burglary/hot Prowl 11/19/14

TYPE: - Attempted Burglary/Hot Prowl
WHERE: -3300 Kelton Ave
WHEN: - Wed. 11/19/14 6:00-6:30 PM
SUSPECTS: - 2 male Hispanic, 18-25 years old, one wearing mask one had a soft cast on arm
CHARACTERISTICS: - The burglary was interrupted when the resident arrived home around 6:30 pm to find his back yard gate left open. Suspects were still on his property but were scared off and quickly fled the scene.
Security footage shows the suspects scaling the fence, unlocking the gate, vandalizing the property (graffiti)
but unable to gain access to the house.
No property was removed and this incident was reported to LAPD promptly.

The following was reported by SSS Alarm and Security company to us for attempted burglary on 3200 block of Kelton on Sunday 10/26/14

"Sunday morning there was an attempted burglary at 32XX Kelton Ave.   We had received a call from our client's alarm company around 730 am.  The alarm operator reported that the alarm activation was from the rear door.  Our security officer responded and arrived in seven minutes.   Upon checking the property the officer found that the back door was forced open.   The Los Angeles Police were called and arrived around 820 am. Nothing was removed from inside of the home. Appears that the alarm system detoured the criminal/s from entering the home."

Palms, your cars are being targeted! Burglary and theft from vehicles continues to be a problem. Items stolen last week from vehicles were smartphones, a laptop, cash, jewelry, and a 3rd row seat. 
1. LOCK & SECURE YOUR CAR!!
2. Don't leave property inside your vehicle, coins or even a gym bag can encourage a thief to break in.
3. Use an audible alarm.

We continue to see cars and motorcycles being stolen from the Palms area.

Just a few days after the August 21, 2014 Westside Village Preparedness Fair, a major quake hit Northern California, which further underscores the urgency of preparedness.  When disaster strikes, our first responders such as police, firefighters, and ambulances will be overwhelmed and we’ll need to rely on ourselves and our neighbors.

  
The Westside Village Homeowners Association Board invites you to participate
in the next phase of organizing a disaster readiness plan for our community with 5 simple steps:

1.     DEFINE YOUR AREA. 

Identify a manageable area—your apartment building, your block, or a few small surrounding streets—that you can organize with relative ease.

2.     RECRUIT LEADERS. 

Develop a team of leaders who can help build the plan and carry out emergency support activities when the time comes. 

3.     SCOUT YOUR AREA. 

Get to know the lay of the land: what resources you have, what the landscape is, and disasters or other emergencies common to your area.

4.     BUILD YOUR TEAM. 

Find out who lives in your area, how they can help in a disaster, and who may need extra help.

5.     PLAN YOUR APPROACH. 

Create a plan that outlines what your neighborhood will do before, during, and after a disaster.   

We must act NOW to be ready when the Big One strikes here!

Package Stolen from Front Porch

WHEN: Wednesday, June 11th at 1:35 pm
SUSPECTS:  Two Suspects in Blue two door coupe.  One suspect a female possibly Hispanic with dark hair in a pony tail.
CHARACTERISTICS:

At approximately 1:35 pm this afternoon, a package was stolen from a front porch.   Two persons dring a small two door blue coupe (maybe a Honda or Scion) stopped in front of our neighbors house and a young possibly Hispanic female with long hair proceeded to walk up to our porch and remove the package and then re-enter the car which sped off heading south on Greenfield.

Apparently, the pair of Nike shoes weren’t their size as they returned at 1:39 pm and threw the package out of their car window into the street in front of the house!

Please keep an eye out for this activity. These thieves were looking for I-phones and other electronics that are left by UPS or Fed Ex.  Please if you order any electronics or any items via UPS or Fed Ex request a signature or asked them to deliver to a neighbor if you planning on not being home.

Home Burglary Attempts on Greenfield

TYPE: Two Burglary/Attempted Burglaries
WHERE: 3400 block of Greenfield
WHEN: Wednesday, April 9, 2014 around 4:30
SUSPECTS: 5 African American teenagers ranging from 13 to 15 years old wearing polo shirts, short pants, tennis shoes and backpacks
CHARACTERISTICS: Neighbors reported they were knocking on doors to see if anyone was home. Two homes had the rear sliding glass doors smashed out.  A house alarm went off at one of the homes.  A neighbor shouted at them and they split up running off in different directions.
