At 4:00 AM on Thursday, 11/20/2008 a resident's car was lit on fire by an arsonist on the 3400 Block of Greenfield Ave. Just before this happened a vehicle with a loud-sounding exhaust (it sounded like a truck) left the scene.
On Wednesday 11/26/2008 the "Animal Liberation Press Office" announced in their "press release" that the terrorist car-bombing was an act accomplished by an anonymous "animal liberation" group that calls itself "Students and Workers for the Liberation of UCLA Primates": http://www.animalliberationpressoffice.org/press_releases/pr_08_11_27_ucla.htm .
According to this announcement, the "target" was in fact a different neighbor on the 3400 block of Greenfield Avenue who works as a researcher at UCLA. However, the "animal activists" attacked a completely unrelated and innocent person. This car bombing is now being treated as an act of "domestic terrorism" and involves LAPD, LAFD, UCLA PD and FBI investigators. The goal of "animal liberators" is to intimidate, scare and harm anyone whom they determine to be the "target" using "legal and illegal means" which are typical tactics of terrorists worldwide . One of the group's "ideologues", proposes killing 5-15 researchers in order to accomplish their goals (see: http://articles.latimes.com/2006/sep/05/local/me-alf5 ).
In order to help the investigation and protect our neighborhood, please report any suspicious activity, group protest or persons who might come to your house with anti-animal research leaflets to:
