Burglary by Distraction at an open house
TYPE: Burglary by distraction
WHERE: 3500 Block Kelton
WHEN: Sunday May 22nd 2:00-5:00 PM
CHARACTERISTICS:
Resident had an open house at her residence today. While Broker was in attendance, two individuals claiming to be a mother and son came to view the property, one distracted the agent, while the other went through personal belongings. Took 5 items totaling $2,000. The resident noticed clothing items, etc. from her drawers stuffed under the bed and bed-side table when she returned home and the open house was over.
Broker was unaware of theft.

UNKOWN SUSP/S RANSACKED 3 BEDROOMS AND REMOVED PROPERTY
The following message is from officer Ceja:
*PLEASE BE REMINDED THAT WE ARE STILL FINDING HOMES WITH THEIR WINDOWS OPEN AND PATIO DOORS AJAR. I KNOW THAT IT’S STARTING TO GET HOT, BUT IF YOU CAN KEEP YOUR SELF COOL WITH THE USE OF A FAN IT WILL BE BETTER THAN LEAVING YOUR WINDOWS OPEN.
*PLEASE ALSO MAKE SURE TO LOCK ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS WHEN YOU ARE NOT HOME. WE HAVE HAD A FEW BURGLARIES WHERE THE SUSPECT CAME IN THROUGH AN OPEN DOOR OR WINDOW.
*I HAVE NOTICED AN INCREASE OF STOLEN JAPANESE MAKE VEHICLES. PLEASE DO WHAT EVER YOU CAN TO LOCK AND SECURED YOUR VEHICLES.
*SOME OF US ARE STILL LEAVING OUR VALUABLES IN PLAIN VIEW IN OUR VEHICLES. IF YOU CAN CARRY YOUR LOOSE ITEMS INSIDE THE HOUSE, PLEASE DO SO TO PREVENT SOMEONE FROM BREAKING YOUR WINDOW. REMEMBER THAT SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT ARE NOT OF VALUE TO YOU, IT’S OF GREAT VALUE TO OTHERS. ITEMS THAT ARE MOSTLY STOLEN FROM CARS ARE: LAPTOPS, GPS, CELL PHONES, IPODS, CELL PHONE CHARGERS AND OTHER ELECTRONICS.
